Starting in 1992, Oland Engineering Limited has built it’s business on the strength of over 1,500 designs, many of which had to live up to some very difficult onsite design criteria.  Our approach has been to work closely with owners, contractors, suppliers and approving authorities so that the construction process goes as smoothly as possible.

Our sewage consulting work in the Valley is extensive and, above all, we pride ourselves in maintaining a close working relationship with approving authorities at various government levels, along with many of the best contractors and suppliers in the Valley. The backbone of a successful product is very much dependent on bringing this team together and our mandate is to provide successful hands-on planning and project management from beginning to end.

Maggie Oland

Maggie Oland

Maggie, shared owner and business partner of Oland Engineering Limited, states:  “Jeff is my husband first and business partner second.”

Maggie grew up in Kelowna and graduated from KSS in 1979. From and early age, she was an entrepreneur at heart, either weeding her neighbor’s garden or picking their cherries.  While living in Calgary, she owned a coffee truck called “Maggie’s Munchies”.  Years later and continuing her passion for business ventures, she owned a business called “Hot Maggie’s” which specialized in the production of hot pepper jelly and pickled habaneros.

She is of Indigenous decent and a very proud member of the L’il Wat Nation near Whistler, BC.  Connection to “The Land” is an integral part of Maggie’s culture and striving for environmental protection with regards to sewage treatment design is crucial.

Maggie says her number one attribute is being a mom to their three grown children and values integrity and a healthy lifestyle.  Being a pitcher in women’s softball and a setter in volleyball consumed her younger years, but now commits most of her time to playing golf, casually and competitively.  When not on the golf course, Maggie enjoys the outdoors, snowshoeing, camping and hiking.  She loves animals, music, and her hobbies in leather work and beading.

Jeff Oland

Jeff Oland

Jeff, shared owner and senior Engineer of Oland Engineering Limited, was raised and educated in Nova Scotia, beginning with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and then transferring to Environmental Technology.  After a few years of field experience, he went on to get his Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering. He spent the next 8 years practicing Engineering with Nortech Surveys, travelling and working around the world, applying new high-tech survey technology.

Jeff’s recipe for success in business comes from applying common sense and a vast amount of tried and true experience.  Although meeting today’s sewerage regulations can be very challenging, Jeff’s approach is to provide a system design that is efficient, cost-effective, and sustainable.  Supporting this is a huge portfolio of successfully planned systems that have all contributed to keeping our environment safe and our clients satisfied.

On the personal side, Jeff is a talented singer and songwriter who plays guitar and harmonica.  Over the years, Jeff has generously contributed this talent to support various charitable community events and organizations.  Jeff also enjoys the many recreational opportunities offered in the Okanagan including fishing, hunting, camping, skiing, golf, and simply being in the outdoors.
